  1. E90Post Dyno Day

This past Saturday's E90Post dyno day was a blast! The turnout was mostly E9X 335's, but an F22 M235i, F10 M5, F80 M3 and even a GTI showed up too. We'd like to thank everyone who turned up to the event, but in case you couldn't make it, here's a quick video and some photos. Enjoy!

  2. The Works for a Frozen White M3 Sedan

Most of our customers modify their cars in multiple stages, having us install one or two parts during each visit. Others, like the owner of this Frozen White wrapped E90 M3, want everything done in one fell swoop. So many components of this 2008 M3 have been replaced or upgraded that it's essentially a brand new car. It really did get the works.

  3. Akrapovic GT4 Equipped M3 on our Dynojet

While the new turbocharged F8X M3/M4s have been putting down over 420whp on our dyno, it's more of a challenge to squeeze high hp numbers out of the naturally aspirated E9X M3. Other than installing a supercharger system or stroking the motor, the only real way to extract every bit of power from the S65 is with a combination a full exhaust system, an intake system, a set of underdrive pulleys and an ECU tune. This Silverstone E92 put this combination of modifications to the test on our Dynojet and recorded 386whp and 277wtq SAE, which is very respectable for an M3. While it doesn't make the raw power and torque of the new S55 I6, we're certainly going to miss the super linear power delivery, the 8400RPM redline and the absolutely intoxicating sound of the S65 V8. Watch the video below to see this beautiful M3 giving everything it's got on our dyno!

  4. Mineral White M3 & Alpine White M4

Our racecar building friends over at Racewerkz Engineering swung by our shop yesterday with their new Mineral White F80 M3 & Alpine White F82 M4. Naturally, the first order of business was to see how the M4 would do on our Dynojet dyno. Just like the Yas Marina Blue M3 we dynoed last week, this Alpine White M4 further proved that BMW has seriously underrated the F8X's horsepower claims. Even on a relatively hot and humid day for SoCal, the M4 recorded a very impressive 421whp and 410wtq STD. We didn't get a chance to dyno the M3, only because the motor was not yet broken-in.

Next, we put both of the cars on our scales. It probably had more to do with varying fuel levels than anything else, but the carbon ceramic brake optioned M3 weighed in at 3562lbs, while the M4 was only 17lbs heavier.

It was then time for some modifications. While the M4 chose to remain stock for now, we had the opportunity to install Macht Schnell 15mm front, 12mm rear wheel spacers and a Macht Schnell stud conversion kit on the M3. The spacers were just enough to give the M3 a proper stance, while the studs allow for quicker and easier wheel changes at the track. As always, we took a bunch of photos to show you nearly every step of the process. Enjoy.

  5. Weistec Supercharged CLK63 AMG Black Series

"What the Black does, then, is blend genuine red-eyed supercar madness with drip-dry everyday practicality. I'm completely in love with it." - Jeremy Clarkson

If Clarkson's opinion means anything to you, then the fact that he actually owns one of these CLK63 AMG Black Series suggests this is one seriously good car. However, there are some owners that aren't completely satisfied with the performance AMG originally provided. Such is the case with this particular car. While at our facility we gave this Black Series a full Weistec overhaul; most notably, we installed the Stage 1 supercharger system. In its stock form, this CLK63 put down 418whp and 382wtq, but fitted with the CARB legal twin screw blower it recorded 523whp and 438wtq! To help the car transfer all its new power to the road we installed Weistec's rear suspension bushing upgrade kit, which consists of 32 Delrin replacement bushings for the entire rear suspension. Other Wiestec goodies we installed include a set of billet idler pulleys and a billet oil / air separator.

Of the 500 examples produced, probably only a small handlful of these Black Series are pushing this level of power and performance. If Jeremy Clarkson fell in love with the stock version of this car, then we can only imagine what he would have to say about this beast. Enjoy.

  6. Yas Marina Blue F80 M3 on our Dyno

Here's what we've all been waiting for! This being the first F80 at our facility, we decided to inspect this Yas Marina Blue M3 on a lift, weigh it on the scales and strap it to our dyno. We love everything about this car, but we did happen to notice that the wheels were quite sunken in. To correct this problem we immediately installed 20mm Macht Schnell spacers in both the front and the rear, pushing the wheels out to their proper position without causing any rubbing. On the scales, this F80 weighed in at 3590lbs with a nearly 50/50 weight distribution. The dyno numbers are what really impressed us, though. BMW claims this motor makes 425hp and 406lb-ft tq at the crank; on our Dynojet this M3 recorded 424hp and 425lb-ft tq at the wheels! Oh yeah, it actually sounds pretty good too check out the dyno video below to hear it for yourself. We took a ton of photos to give you an up-close and personal look at this beautiful F80, so take a few minutes to soak it all in and enjoy.

  7. Loud & Fast M3 Convertible

As far as convertibles go, this particular M3 is rather aggressively modified. Under the hood you'll find the newly installed ESS VT2-650 supercharger system, which thrusts this E93 to just above the 575whp mark. Underneath the car is a Macht Schnell Race Catless X-Pipe mated to a Meistershaft Race Exhaust. Just in case you weren't sure, yes, this set-up is insanely loud! Be sure to watch the video to see for yourself. On the inside we installed bmwpedals DCT paddle shifters, bmwpedals aluminum pedals and an Awron digital gauge. On the outside, this convertible is fitted with an Arkym carbon fiber front lip, an Arkym carbon fiber rear diffuser, a Vorsteiner carbon fiber vented hood, a Vorsteiner carbon fiber trunk and an iND painted cosmetic package. To help this car handle the extra power, we installed the Ohlins Road & Track DFV coilovers and Ground Control camber plates to compliment the Brembo GT big brake kit. Matte Black ACE Design wheels finish off this Alpine White M3 with a unique touch.

  8. ESS VT2-625 Supercharger for a Highly Modified M3

We featured this Alpine White M3 on our blog last year and noticed that that it quickly became a fan favorite. It's pretty easy to see why. After all, it isn't everyday you see an M3 with an Akrapovic GT4 exhaust system, a VRS System 1 diffuser, BBS FI wheels, Brembo brakes, KW Clubsport coilovers, a Mode Carbon lip and Recaro Pole Position seats. Just when you thought this BMW was as good as it gets, we went ahead and made it better. During it's most recent visit to our facility we installed the ESS VT2-625 supercharger system and introduced this E92 to a whole new world of power. With the supercharger system installed, this M3 picked up 170 horsepower at the wheels and made as much torque as it did power when it was NA! Because this M3 is already equipped with upgraded brakes, wheels and suspension, the neck-snapping acceleration will fit right in.

  9. Space Gray ESS VT2-625 E92 M3

Having been to our facility before, this 2008 Space Gray M3 has already been equipped with many of the essential modifications. Featuring an Arkym carbon fiber front lip spoiler, an iND painted cosmetic package, a set of ultra-deep concave Forgestar F14 wheels, the KW sleeve-over kit, a Challenge Sport x-Pipe and an Eisemnann Race exhaust system, this E92 was definitely headed in the right direction. Up until last week, though, this M3 was missing THE modification that every M3 owner really wants: a supercharger! For this particular M3 we installed the ESS VT2-625 intercooled supercharger system, which produces 6.5PSI of boost and thrusts the S65 motor to the next level of performance. On our dyno, this M3 saw substantial gains of 181 HP and 78 LB-FT TQ at the wheels, for a total of 527HP and 346 LB-FT TQ. Complimenting the new supercharger system, we also installed the popular Awron DGA gauge, which displays a wide array of real-time data ranging from boost pressure to g-forces to lap times.

Before we installed the supercharger system, we took the motor apart to inspect and replace the rod bearings. Upon removal, we found something very interesting. It turns out that one of the rod bearings was installed with some of the plastic wrap still attached to the underside! This small piece of plastic was enough to create a high spot on the bearing and create uneven wear. We replaced the old rod bearings with a set of superior WPC surface treated ones and a set of ARP rod bolts.

  10. Renntech Tuned E63 AMG on our Dyno & Scales

This unassuming E63 AMG recently impressed us while strapped to our Dynojet. While it might look stock on the outside, this luxury sedan is actually a monster. Equipped with the Renntech Intermediate ECU tune,  BMC performance air filters and RADO catless downpipes, this beastly twin-turbo V8 managed to put down a staggering 630 HP and 735 LB-FT TQ at the wheels! We've actually had the opportunity to race this particular car in our supercharged M3 at last years Shift S3ctor event... we lost. After the dyno session, we put this E63 on our scales and recorded a weight of  4241 LBS and a nearly 50/50 weight distribution. From our own experiences, we know first hand that this car is not meant to be toyed with.
