euro tuner gp
The European Car Tuner GP magazine is out on newstands now! Back in Septemper, we competed in the annual event with our ESS supercharged Z4M driven by Jordan Yost. The competition was tough, but we were able to snag 1st place in both the RWD track and dragstrip events. We've posted the complete article below so you can get every last detail. For even more information and photos of our Z4M during this competition, head over to European Car's website for short spotlight article. Enjoy!
From the article:
european auto source is a BMW tuning shop dedicated to supplying OEM plus modifications, particularly for the E92 chassis. To compete in our event, the shop entered its supercharged E92 M3 with an AP Racing big-brake kit and KW Variant 3 coilovers.
With this popular platform, EAS wanted to show how these modifications would perform against purpose-built racecars.
Hot on the heels of an E46 M3 racecar in the drag racing, their E92 ran a time of 12.298sec at 120.75mph. Placing second among the other BMWs, while coming third in the RWD category.
The following day, the team was disappointed with the dyno results, which yielded only 457hp but it earned them valuable points for a fourth place result.
At Streets of Willow, EAS handed the keys to Jordan Yost: a friend of the shop as well as a driving instructor. He was able to record a lap time of 1:27.713, cementing fourth place overall. The team's performance remained consistent throughout the three days, without any on-site tuning or trailer support.
Here's the official trailer for the eurotuner Magazine Tuner GP that will appear in the February 2011 issue of eurotuner Magazine and at www.eurotuner.com. There will also be a full-length documentary on the event, which will appear at a later date.
We had the opportunity to enter our VF620 M3 in this event and we had a blast! Check it out.
For the final day of the EuroTuner GP we drove our M3 through the desert to the Streets of Willow Springs Raceway. The day consisted of several practice sessions in the morning with the timed laps happening later in the afternoon. Both we and our driverJordan Yost were very pleased with how the car performed. Even after dozens of hard, fast laps throughout the long day, we simply drove the M3 back to Anaheim while listening to an iPod.
Recently we entered into the EuroTuner GP with our supercharged M3 piloted by pro driver Jordan Yost. The competition spanned 3 days with 3 different events (drag strip, dyno and track) with every car running Continental Extreme Contact DW tires.
This event marked the debut of VF Engineering's VF620 supercharger system which we have been quietly testing behind the scenes. Through a gruelling 3 days of multiple drag runs, dyno sessions and continuous hot laps, the VF620 supercharger performed each task flawlessly, begging for more. The car simply feels at home on the track while still being civil on the street.
Our goals were quick and simple:
1) Compete with an M3 that can be easily replicated with only bolt-on modifications.
2) Vehicle was to be driven to and from each event; no trailers.
3) Vehicle must maintain full interior (exception of the rear seat).
4) No tuning or changes were to be made to the vehicle in between events, (exception of tire pressure).
European tuners from near and far entered a wide range of modified cars, from a fully race-prepped 135i to a mid-engine turbo VW Golf. Seeing our M3 drive to the event without a trailer was somewhat of an odd sight.
While we aren't allowed to say anything about the results until the magazine hits newsstands in February 2012, we can show you some cool pictures and video!
