  1. Akrapovic Evolution Exhaust Installed on M4

Having home-court advantage to Akrapovic's North American facilities, we work very closely with the company and were able to provide installation and collect some data on the new Evolution system for the F8X M3 & M4 platform. Akrapovic's newly-acquired M4 had just completed getting vinyl wrapped and needed a system installed right away.

As expected from Akrapovic, the systems are very high quality and constructed from full titanium. Everything needed is included with the Evolution systems for a bolt on installation, and installation was a breeze. There are two options of exhaust tips: carbon fiber or titanium. For this M4 we installed the carbon fiber tips, which also feature polished titanium just under the 2x2 weave. To complete the installation, we also replaced the stock diffuser with Akrapovic's matching carbon fiber diffuser.

Because it's made from titanium, this exhaust weighs 25.5lbs less than the OEM steel version. This system has a very throaty and exotic exhaust note while retaining the S55's signature sound. It's also a little louder than other Akrapovic Evolution exhaust systems that we've installed; it's not overbearing, just aggressive. On the dyno we recorded a peak gain of 7whp on 91 octane, this can mean a couple of things: 1) The BMW factory exhaust is very efficient, or 2) The choke point likely is further up at the downpipes. Watch the dyno video below to hear the exhaust for yourself and check out all these photos from the installation. Enjoy!

  4. Matte Black ARC-8s on Space Gray 135i

Needing some new tires for his 135i, this owner decided he might as well upgrade his wheels and suspension as well. Wanting both great looks and improved performance, we installed a set of lightweight matte black 18" APEX ARC-8 wheels, weighing in at only 18.1lbs in the front and 18.2 lbs in the rear. We wrapped these wheels in some Hankook V12s, which perhaps the most cost effective high-performance rubber available right now. Finally, to complete the look and further improve the handling of this E82, we installed a set of H&R springs which lowered the car 1.8" in the front and 1.2" in the rear.

  5. Dakar Yellow E46 M3

We've seen Dakar Yellow E36 M3s, E90 M3s & E92 M3s, but we think this is the first Dakar Yellow E46 M3 to come through here. The new owner of only a couple weeks had to drive up to Seattle to buy this rare car, but he isn't complaining. To give the car a more aggressive stance and more responsive handling he came to us to get a set of ST Coilovers installed. Paired with the matte black VMR wheels, this subtly modded Dakar Yellow M3 looks complete.

  6. 20" Matte Black Volk VR.G2 Wheels on E90 M3

The white & matte black combo is one of the more popular choices we see here, and it's easy to see why. These 20" Volk VR.G2 wheels fill out the M3 sedan's wheel wells nicely, giving the car an aggressive presence. Forged from T6-6061 aircraft grade aluminum these Japanese made 1-piece wheels are some of the lightest and strongest 20" wheels on the market, which is why VR.G2 is the wheel of choice for the Rahal Letterman BMW M3 ALMS race car. Scroll down to the bottom to see one of the used ALMS wheels that we keep in our waiting room.
