DCT service refers to the maintenance of the Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) in M2C/M3/M4/M5 & M6 models equipped with the 7-speed DCT gearbox. This service is all about keeping the transmission in top shape - ensuring smooth shifts, preventing premature wear, and maintaining performance.
Why does DCT need service?
DCT transmissionis a high-performance dual-clutch transmission that gives you rapid gear changes with no power interruption. It’s fast, fun, and precise - but it’s also complex and works under a lot of stress. The DCT uses special transmission fluid to cool, lubricate, and operate its internal components. Over time, this fluid breaks down due to heat and pressure, which can lead to:
- Rough or delayed shifting
- Overheating issues
- Long-term damage if left unchecked
BMW doesn’t list a strict interval - they often say the fluid is “lifetime.” But in reality, it is recommended every 50,000 - 60,000 miles, or sooner if you seen regular track use, drive aggressively or experience rough shifting
