The BMW F 220 Rear axle has a welded crown wheel on the differential casing. If you upgrade to a
Drexler BMW 220 Limited slip differential, you need to machine the original differential in order to use the original crown wheel. If you use this shorter final drive, you don’t have to machine the original OEM differential. The ratio change to 3.91 or 4.10 is very common for track usage.
KMP has produced a stronger, but also lighter final drive for the BMW 220 differential with a ratio of 4.11. The BMW 220 rear axle is used in the models F87 M2, F8X M3/M4 and more. This crown wheel pinion can only be used in combination with the steel carbon shaft, not with the carbon version. Always check which model type is needed.
